Regina has the highest crime rate in Canada, again. Sigh.

Regina has once again won (or lost, depending on how you look at it) Highest Crime Rate in Canada for 2008. Here’s my effin view on why that is :

1.Welfare and Low Income Programs: They might as well call our Welfare program the Set for Life lottery. If the people sitting on their asses collecting free money would get up and get a job they wouldn’t have so much time to commit crimes? (Logical Thinking or no?) We almost pay them to commit these crimes if you think about it? The system needs to be updated, there should be time frames on which you can milk these programs and there should be requirements (Shit jobs, cleaning highways, anything that isn’t fun, ANYTHING to get these people working) These people should be almost treated like criminals, we should not be cutting them checks but giving them vouchers, I mean, do anything in our power to make the system miserable to be on, which sounds unfair to people that do need the help and I’m not bashing them at all, that’s probably (who knows) what the system was made for, but over the years has been so badly abused, it’s not a right, it’s a priviledge (and really, I can call it whatever I want, ITS MY MONEY)

2. Our Justice System and Police Service: I cannot tell you how many times we’ve gotten caught in one of those stupid speed traps, you really need 12 cops sitting in a parking lot ENTRAPPING people, that’s a load? And the stop checks? I really really hate drunk drivers and I’m all for catching those buggers, I don’t mind getting pulled over and talked to, I don’t drink and drive so I have nothing but time, but really, the biggest skank bars right now are Just Dirties (J.D’s) and The Pump, never once have I seen a stop check over there, I work Thursday nights starting at 11pm, you have no idea how many drunks I see on my way to work. Anyhoo, enough about police dodging doing any real work, LITERALLY waiting for the criminals to come to them, how about my friend….hmm..we’ll call her Sally. She called Crimestoppers to report a drug dealer, she gave them all of him information and where he can be found on EVERY night of the week. Well, you will all be NOT happy to learn he is still slinging his drugs outside Brewsters.  So you like when the criminals come to you? Well theres one? You didn’t hop right on getting him of the street?  Another example? My old neighbors used to get harassed by their neighbors in North Central, they called the police, because nobody seen them vandalize their home, EVEN THO it was vandalized with a 4 litre tub of salad dressing AND the bitch who did it, her family owns a catering business?!? Do we need to bring CSI in here to figure this shit out ?? They ended up getting a nannycam, (the polices VERY helpful advice) Well big surprise nothing happened once their was a big old camera ? NOW for a personal experience, I got piled on by a bunch of hoodrats, a whole fucking clan, I think there was 6 of them, right in front of my house, the police didn’t press any chargers, infact MY MOTHER almost got charged for pulling girls off of me!?!?!? (I’m sure some cop will come along commenting on my page, go ahead, say whatever in your defense but I pay your check to! It’s my money! I should atleast have the right to critique the job you are (or aren’t) doing, I know the people who pay me have a lot of say as far as coaching my work.

3.Schools/Education- Even though this has a lot of do with people ripping of the gov’t and literally having no money left for schools (other than the 7000 we gave to Scott Collegiate for DISPOSABLE CAMERAS, so they can LET THEM LOOSE in North Central and take pictures of WHATEVER?!) The big problem is our expectations of kids coming from the North Central schools, I went into highschool not picking up a Science Book, doing no math other than basic multiplication and division. These teachers expect these kids to drop out or do nothing to further their education, and then they see people later in life not doing as well as they could and say, “I told you, wouldn’t go nowhere!” Well ofcourse! These kids leave Grade 8 with a Grade 5 education and leave Grade 12 with a Grade 9 education AT BEST!

You wonder why there is crime and poverty, there you have it ? It seems cold and mean, but I’ve experienced North Central first hand, lived their for 17 years. The gas station I worked at for 3 years, I won’t even go into, when my fiance and I drive through the hood, people look at me like I’m a prostitute because of our races, which just comes to show people call it like they see it.  Nothing is going to change with the people, the change needs to start on these systems we’ve laid out for them, making it possible for them to commit these crimes, the last thing this city needs to do is build a new stadium, WHICH IS RUMORED that they are only building it to get it out of North Central, whats your next fix Pat, are you going to build a barrier from Albert to Lewvan?? You put a bunch of pitbulls into a pen, they’re gunna fight.  Stop wasting our money, throw out everything you know and start again and maybe I’ll take Regina out of the Don’t Go Here Regina catagory.

Another blow to the taxpayers, Scott Collegiate grade 10-12 students have put together an exibit at the T.C Douglas building in Regina, Sk called the North Central Photojournalism Project funded for 7,500.00$ by the Saskatchewan Arts Board ArtsSmarts grant. The kids were all given disposable cameras and were “let loose”
I don’t know where to start on this, 7,500$ … going to this? I’m all for artistic stimulation, but that’s a lot of money, I browsed through most of the pictures on Flikr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/24354919@N02/page12/) and I truly believe these kids took this project very seriously, but this I think should have been an extra ciricular activity, something you maybe have to do on your own time (afterschool) to show your dedication, so the tax payers know this is something you are interesting in someday prusuing. I don’t know if this goes back to what the expectations are in those schools for those kids. I went to Sacred Heart Community School (right across the street from Scott Collegiate) my grade 8 year was basically divided into 4 quarters, one for making childrens stories, which we wrote in a week and spent 2 months illustrating, another for listening to old SNL and Bill Cosby records, another for using what we learnt from the records to make a comedy sketch, and the last one for building a go-kart. Our math consisted of MadMinute work sheets that were handed out in the morning, very basic easy math, the kids had to keep doing the same sheet unless they had every answer right on the page (which shouldn’t have been hard because it started with simple addition and subtraction) but by the end of the year, there were probably 3 or 4 students that hadn’t even gotten to the second math sheet, while my friend and I were long done the sheets provided and spent our morning making new sheets (because our teacher actually believed that the other students would eventually catch up, they never did.) in the teachers lounge, playing with the photocopier and taking advantage of our access to the pop machine. The only time we brought out the science books was at the beginning of the year when we sat on them (my teacher didn’t believe in desks, or any of forms of “comformity”
My point from telling all this is not to bash my grade 8 teacher, as I do have alot of respect for him, (Holla Mr.W!) I have came to the conclusion, the reason nobody learns anything is because nobody teaches anything BECAUSE they don’t believe these kids have the foundation to do anything with the education supposed to be provided. The expectations for us were so low, as long as we weren’t hooking or slinging drugs on their watch (which some of us were, sad to say) they really couldn’t care less, I’ve said hood schools were there so the deprived kids could atleast have one hot meal a day.
Now we have grants given to the amount of 7,500$ I have to ask if this grant would have been given to a school like Oneill? I feel like you guys gave a bunch of kids you don’t have much hope for a bunch of cameras and took the day off. In the paper it said “It’s a simple concept-give the kids cameras and set them loose” and “the stipulations were not complicated, photos could be of landscapes, architecture, family members, children, anything the students wished- so longas they were in North Central.”  What did this teach these 14-17 year olds. Most of the pictures are of grafitti, the kids posing with each other, and run down areas, are we trying to show people where the city could use a little cleaning up??
I just want to make it clear that I don’t appose doing projects like this at all, I just don’t think this should have been an in school project, lasting weeks and costing almost 8 grand.  I also think the project should have had some structure and guidance, and more on the culture, values, and tradition that area holds. Where are the pictures of Pow-wows, Sweats, or Feasts? A lot of these pictures make it seem very unglamerous to live there, and even though it is proverty stricken and has a high crime rate, it’s not nearly as bad as those pictures make it seem, I spent the first 15 years of my life in that area, I have so many friends, and family members of friends and co-workers (Holla! Sonshine Gas and Wash) I would skip through Compton to go see not that there is any comparison. North Central just needs a lil TLC and 86 this kind of bad publicity. I also have the question, why the money wasn’t spent on digital cameras so they could continue this “learning program” for years to come, was it distrust on the students? I don’t know, they could have taken this to a whole new level for these students instead of giving them a project elementry students are capable of.
Only 4 or 5 students from my 30+ Grade 8 class graduated from high school, some of them turning to gangs and prostition before our graduation. Raise your expectations for these kids, you will be greatly surprised as they all have the ability to far surpress them when given the tools. I have heard rumors that Scott Collegiate is closing, sometimes I think the students would be better off.

RiRi Look-A-like, pfft, she wishes!

So some loser I’m not even gunna post her name cuzz shes soo stupid I don’t wanna give her any direct attention. She apparently records with Pharells label. SHE dressed herself up like Rihanna and went to the Lakers game with Chris Brown, wearing her hair like Rihanna, wearing retro style clothes and a pair of glasses that look a little too much like what Rihannas been sporting. This girl is saying that this was not set up and she’s pissed off that sites like Yahoo posted Rihanna and  Chris at the game. WELL CHICA, you obviously were trying to look like RiRi, but whatev, we’ll let that go. You made comments that you will support Chris no matter what, this sickens me, the fact that he still has “boys” just blows my mind but the fact that YOU will sit with him like he didn’t beat the shit outta some chick you sat and posed with pix for a year ago?? Nice… I hope you and him start a lil love affair, CUZZ YOU KNOW RIHANNA AIN’T GOIN BACK, and I hope YOU catch him with a lil sextmsg, and you get ur ass handed to you by Mr. I’m not a monster, tough guy. Now I would never wish something like that upon any woman, but you have nerve and so do all those cornholers that still hang with him. 

I can’t wait until the hearing next Monday, I hope Rihanna gets up there and tells them whatever she needs to to make sure he sees some jail time cuzz homies up there don’t roll like that! No REAL man can even STAND someone like Chris Brown, I may have said it before but I’d like to see him walk my hood.

Anyway, back to the chick, tweeting about how she doesn’t like being called her look-a-like!?!? From a ways you may slightly resemble her but if you really looked like her don’t you think you’d have HOW MANY number one songs, HOW MUCH money, HOW MANY fans?!? Keep Dreaming Teyana!Tryin to say u’ve been rockin that style ???? Where??? Under that rock u’ve been hiding up until a few days ago??? LOL Losa!

Just Another Reason NOT to get a Tattoo

A 18 year old girl from Belgium went into a tattoo parlor and asked for 3 stars to be tattooed on her face, the guy tattooed 56 stars on her face!! I’ve heard so many stories about people going in for chinese symbols meaning one thing and getting symbols meaning something totally different! Usually dirty or offensive, my question to this chick is, How the heck do you not notice!! She says she feel asleep on the table?!? Ur face is getting poked with needles chic?? Thats crazy!! The guy is saying she asked for them all, but if you’ve looked at the pictures this chick looks RIDONK, I dont think anyone would ask for this?? Now theres a legal team investigating wether or not this guy should be sued.This all could have been due to miscommunication as the tattoo artist spoke french and the woman spoke Flemish and a little bit of English… I don’t know what to say, even with laser surgery to remove them they will still be visible… Hopefully if this is a prank on his behalf this girl is compensated properly, I think it would be an exaggeration to say that this will ruin her life but it’s gunna be hard to be taken seriously with a face half covered in stars.

I’ve seen soo many jailhouse looking tattoos, people need to start doing more research on where their tatts are being done and who’s doing them. This isn’t even the worst case senario on tatts, find some with Hep C or AIDs or something from getting a tatt, I bet they’d gladly trade ya for a face full of stars.

Now to lighten the mood, I wonder what hit her so hard that we are all seeing stars… BuDuhBum! hahaha

What Would You Do?

A new showed aired a few weeks ago called Primetime: What Would You Do? (On Tuesday nights a little later in the evening, set ur tivos!) They hire actors to act out scenarios in public places to see how people react.  The first show I watched I was completely stunned, they had 2 actors, a guy and a girl in a bar, when the chick would go to the bathroom, they showed the guy (her “date”) drugging her wine. Not much to my surpise very few stepped in, the ones who did didn’t even tell the girl that her date had just drugged her drink, they would simply buy the woman another drink, telling her hers was no good. The part that sickened me the most is, there was a douche, I mean a guy… who seemed jealous at first that this man was drugging this woman, he said the actor was cheating, and how he wishes he could do the same but he’s married?…. Let’s just say they had to blank out his face…. Anyhoo this weeks shocking skit was about strangers lurking in public parks trying to convince little kids to follow them to help them find their dog… they said they ran this scenario in front of over 50 people, and only a dozen stepped in to help the child??? This is just crazy too me, a lot of the time when these things are happening, it’s not in plain sight of someone who can help, so to see these people look directly at this child who’s being walked off hand in hand with some guy…. gives me the chills.  And, as far as that bar situation, that is one of the main reason I don’t go, I can honestly say, if I Canadian seen that happen to another person, they would be piled on by every married man in the place, but like I said, a lot of the time it isn’t as easy to spot, so I guess the point of this blog entry is, watch the show cuzz its kinda interesting, and if you are in the bar, remember drinks are expired once u’ve put them down, don’t take drinks from strangers unless you’ve seen the bartender pour them (and still, we are working ladies yawl, we don’t need some man buying us around the bar.) The chances of ending up sore and drowsy the next morning in a foriegn place are getting bigger. (And in that regard, ladies, stop fricken get pissed fricken drunk at bars, have and know your limit, your “one too many” is someone else’s “sluttery winnings”…….. And never ever leave your child unattended in a park, never leave them unattended in any public place, predators are lurking all over, the statistics of phedophiles these days in unreal, and those are just the people who have been caught,  it’s unimaginable how many of those EFFERS are still out there, they are your neighbors, your teachers, your priests, your cab drivers, and the scariest, your family members.
